Pinewood Champions!

Jeremy and Wesley both won in the Pinewood Derby tonight! Wesley's Orange racer was fastest overall, and Jeremy's Black Bullet won Fastest Webelos.

Although they didn't give the awards, we're pretty sure Jeremy was 2nd fastest overall. He never lost except when he came in just barely behind Wesley.
Now that we've had some practice--10 cars now--we are learning some good tricks.

Robert's car was a fancy red and blue detailed car. It was unofficial, since he's not a cub scout, but in after-race tests, he tied exactly with the 1st place cub car (Wesley).

Robert completely made and designed this by himself.

Family Night--Plan of Salvation

During Jeremy's excellent family night lesson he shared an object lesson that involved muddy water and dirt, about how we should keep ourselves unpoluted from the world.

He explained how we were clean, before, in the premenstrual life.   After listening several times to make sure I was hearing correctly, Becky and I had a great laugh!

Glasses

Mom:  "Jeremy, remember if you keep your glasses in a safe place they won't get broken like this."
Jeremy:  "Well, I had them in a safe place."
M: "And they broke while they were in that safe place?"
J:  "Well--it wasn't that safe of a place--it was on the couch.  At least it was safer than playing with Timothy."

Sundance Ski Blast

I've decided to go ahead and try to post little updates even if I don't have pictures or the time to find pictures and upload them.

Last Saturday we went night skiing at Sundance with all three boys.  We had a blast!  In January, if you tell them you want the "lucky 13" price, you get in for $13 per person, which is about half off the adult price.  It was cold--between 15 and 20 degrees, but with a hot-chocolate break in the middle, we still had a lot of fun.

I like to go fast, and Wesley, Jeremy, and Robert were all keeping up with me--which made their mother quite nervous, and thankful that Wesley now has a ski helmet.

We're off to Disneyland next week for the first time in quite a few years, and my first ever time in the off season mid-January.  This mid-January trip to Southern California has become a bit of an annual tradition, and we like it.

Zion hiking

From Snow to 70 degree sunshine in two days!  Pretty Fun.  We drove to Zion, stayed overnight in a hotel, and spent Saturday hiking--Kolob Canyons overlook hike (1 mile), hidden canyon (3-4 miles), playing at the river, and then the narrows riverwalk (1 mile).  What a beautiful place!

When you see all these cute faces and awesome scenery, you maybe can understand why we now have more than 23,000 photos in our iphoto library!

We also enjoyed reading Huck Finn in the van on the way and the way back--managed the whole way with no movies!  

Snow on April 16!

We had about 1 foot of snow on the 16th--took the chance to go sledding in April.  It was really warm, and I was quite comfortable in my t-shirt and jeans.  We all had a blast throwing snowballs, sledding, and making an 11-foot tall snowman!
